SURVEY: Right There: A Hedonic Map of Pleasure and Pain in Austin, Texas
Jennifer Chenoweth is creating an artwork that is a map of experiences and she needs your voice. By sharing the physical locations within Austin of your highest highs and your lowest lows, she will produce an installation: an emotional map of Austin, a Hedonic Map. In a city with so many people and experiences, it’s often our emotions that draw us back to or away from certain places.
This is an attempt to discover patterns that contribute to a collective experience of emotions at any given place.
Inspired by her own experiences in Austin and shared experiences with friends, Jennifer researched different types of pain and pleasure by behaviorists, psychologists, and other thinkers to create a series of questions about everything from the simple pleasures to the loss of love. Your anonymous answers will inform the installation that exhibits at Co-Lab in October, 2013 and at The University of Texas at Austin Department of Psychology in 2014, and the ongoing project documented online.
PLEASE ANSWER THE SURVEY, and forward to your friends.
YES, the SURVEY IS STILL OPEN through September, 2015. We will update data a few times per year.
This project is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division believing an investment in the Arts is an investment in Austin’s future. Visit Austin at NowPlayingAustin.com.
